Futsal is a mini soccer. The name is from Spanish, futbol, which the meaning is football, and Portuguese sala, which the meaning is room. The size of futsal field is about 40 x 20 meters. Futsal is played by 5 persons in a team, which unlimited substitutions. There are two half time in futsal. Each half duration is 20 minutes, and the break is 5 minutes.

Nowadays, futsal is more popular among the students of IT Telkom than football. Why? This is caused by several factors such as there are futsal facilities, the competition, and the communities.
The first point that causes futsal so popular on campus IT Telkom is the futsal field facilities provided by the campus and other futsal field rental in Bandung. In IT Telkom, there are two futsal fields, indoor and outdoor. Indoor field located in the Student Center and outdoor field located in between buildings F at building E. Students can use this field by first asking permission to Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) to schedule does not conflict with other users. Usually indoor field is only used for futsal finals competition because of the use for other sports such as basketball, badminton, and taekwondo. So the students more often use the outdoor field than the indoor field.
Students who cannot use the outdoor field because of tight schedule outdoor use, usually preferring to futsal in other places outside the campus. There are a lot of futsal field in Bandung. Usually students rent a futsal field with distance and cost considerations. Students usually rent futsal field for one to two hours. So they pay about 75-150 thousand per play futsal.
The second point is futsal competition. There are many futsal competitions in IT Telkom. The competition is organized by the faculty and also organized by the campus. Competition held by the faculty such as Industrial League by Industrial Engineering Faculty, Copa Elektro by Faculty of Electrical and Telecommunications, and Liga IF by Informatics Faculty. This competition held annually in odd semester. The participant of this competition is a team from each class. Inter-faculty competition in IT Telkom are Kopma Champions League (KCL) and Olimpiade. KCL held by Kopma and Olimpiade held by BEM. Participants in this competition can be combined between classes but must be from the same faculty. These competitions can increase student interest in the futsal and also can strengthen friendships with classmates.

The last point is futsal community. There are many futsal communities in the IT Telkom. These communities are formed because each member has an interest and talent in futsal. Main futsal community on this campus is UKM Bola. Not all students can become members of the UKM Bola. They must first pass the selection. The members of UKM Bola will represent IT Telkom in national futsal competition. So they practice regularly every week about 3-4 times. Beside UKM Bola, there are many other communities. This community is usually formed because of the competition on campus. The member of this community is a classmate or friend of the same faculty. They do not schedule regular exercise. They usually practice at night when no task from the campus. By join a community, we will have lots of friends.

From the explanation above, no doubt that futsal is a very popular sport on IT Telkom. Starting from the facility support, the competition, and the community is the reason why futsal is so popular on campus. Not only popular, futsal also has many benefits such as for health and can strengthen friendships. So, let’s play futsal!
